PROMO: Check Out the Trailer for the Riveting New Film 'Detroit' From the Director of 'The Hurt Locker'

Survive the city. Survive the night. Uncover the truth.

What happened inside Detroit’s Algiers Hotel one fateful night in 1967 is a story shrouded in mystery. Though it’s been 50 years since the events took place, the truth about this dark and disturbing incident remains one of America’s darkest secrets. But one thing is for sure: the uprising that took place as a result of the intense police escalation was like nothing we had ever seen before in the United States—and haven’t seen since.

The new film Detroit finally unearths this intensely controversial moment in American history. Based on the true story of what happened during those long, tense, ultimately violent hours, the film is written by Mark Boal and directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who previously teamed together on Zero Dark Thirty and both won Oscars for their work on the masterful Iraq War film The Hurt Locker. It features a truly incredible cast that includes John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Will Poulter (The Revenant), Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton), Anthony Mackie (Captain America: Civil War), John Krasinski (13 Hours), and Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner).

Detroit hits theaters August 4th, but you can check out the official trailer for the film above. You can also follow the story with @DetroitMovie on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
