After 'The Interview' and 'Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping,' Seth Rogen and The Lonely Island might parody the doomed Fyre Festival.

With films such as The Interview and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Seth Rogen and The Lonely Island have shown they are respectively adept at lampooning real life events in the interest of generating some laughs. If recent tweets are any indication, the headline-making Fyre Festival may be the next target. In the midst of the Fyre Festival continuing to take a beating, Rogen and The Lonely Island—the latter comprised of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer—tweeted about an upcoming project referencing a similarly doomed festival.

“This seems like a good time to mention the movie we are making with @thelonelyisland about a music festival that goes horribly wrong,” Rogen tweeted.

A reply from the official Twitter feed of The Lonely Island read, “For real, thinking about suing #FyreFestival for stealing our idea.”

Organizers from the Fyre Festival have a real life publicity nightmare on their hands, as the event's attendees have been posting the now-canceled festival’s substandard conditions on their social media platforms since Friday. With Rogen and The Lonely Island having already found success parodying the likes of Kim Jon Un and Justin Bieber, the question remains if a film about a doomed event can survive beyond the Fyre Festival’s presumably short domination of the current news cycle.

Responses from fans about the potential movie, which Rogen’s tweets indicate predate Fyre Festival, seem to indicate at least some level of interest. And if nothing else, Coachella provides an annual opportunity to bash the entitled festival attending set.

We may have to continue waiting on the status of the proposed festival comedy, as The Hollywood Reporter notes neither Rogen nor The Lonely Island's respective camps have returned requests for comments on the proposed film.
