Earlier this year, astronaut Scott Kelly returned safely to Earth after spending an entire year aboard the International Space Station. While becoming the first American to spend a year in space, he helped NASA move toward its goal of sending people to Mars, which will require people to spend really long periods of time in zero gravity.

What did he do up there for that whole time? Well, he watched cool movies before us losers on Earth got to see them, and he worked on what was definitely the best Instagram account onboard the ISS. Also, research and stuff

Now, Kelly's time on the space station is being turned into to a movie by Sony Pictures, according to Variety. The studio reportedly won the rights to adapt Kelly's upcoming book, EnduranceMy Year In Space into a film.

The story chronicles his early struggles as a C- student, his training as a Navy test pilot and the highly competitive drive both he and his identical twin brother, Mark, underwent to become astronauts.

Kelly must have been making it look pretty fun up there. NASA reportedly smashed its record for astronaut applications earlier this year when 18,000 people applied to the program, which only employs about 50 astronauts total these days.
