What are the best sneakers of 2009? To answer this question, we assembled a panel of sneaker experts, including Matt Halfhill (founder of NiceKicks.com), DJ Clark Kent (God's favorite DJ), Mayor (AF1 King), Chris Vidal (ALIFE Manager), and Wil Whitney (head coach of 21 Mercer and founder of Nom de Guerre). Last week, each expert shared their personal Top 10, and now everyone is coming together to determine the official Top 10 Sneakers of 2009. We even caught the whole debate on video.
The Nike SB Bruin is holding down the #9 spot because it was a great bringback and we're psyched to see it come into the SB line. Complex hit the world with the Supreme NYC x Nike SB version of this shoe last April, and then the sneaker world saw Nike's skate department take the reigns and pump out a series of dope colorways. Bradley at Complex and Wil from 21 Mercer were in favor of the Supreme version of the SB Bruin, but in the end it was decided that the Bruin as a silhouette deserved the spot as opposed to a specific colorway. Because this was a new bringback and more of a full year series of releases, the Bruin SB gets the slot.
