Fall may bring a closet of flannel shirts and forest green daypacks to mind, but here at Sneaker Report we like to think that athletes crave some color when the temperature dips. Here's your quick fix to avoid the expected North-Face-and-nubucks this fall.

Patagonia Men's Nano Puff Hybrid Jacket

The hybrid descriptor for this jacket is right on. Part comfy soft shell, part ready-to-take-on-the-elements puffer, this jacket is a lightweight warmer that's comfortable as it is good-looking.

The puff sits up top, allowing a full range of motion, so this item is ideal as a fitted mid layer for ski or snow, or to use in the coming weeks as a light fall layer. Also, the pockets are especially awesome as the neon zips face opposite of standard pockets to position arms across each other for a swagger stance never before created by a Patagonia product. Big props to the Patagonia team for this one, we know you don't want us to buy another jacket, but you provided yet another hard-to-resist item for the upcoming chill with the Nano Puff Hybrid.

Shown here in Larimar Blue, also available in Paintbrush Red or Black if you prefer a subtler look.

Only with this brand can a guy pull off these saturated shades with names borrowed from candy, as Osprey knows how to shape the ideal form for the specified function of the bag so you don't come off looking like a fashion plate on the trail.

The Axis follows suit as a moderate day pack that is perfect for the light hiker or the student that needs room for iPads and gym shoes alike. Shown above in Juicy Orange.

adidas Terrex Fast X GTX

Hybrid is the name of the game for modern hiking gear. The hybrid outdoor kick has progressed technically since its introduction in the late '80s, including a TRAXION outsole with lugs for gripping any terrain and a breathable synthetic upper. The GTX look is sharp too, with a understated webbed lace to complement the sturdy looking kick.
