The NFL Draft kicks off in just a few short hours, and the projected number 1 pick, Jadeveon Clowney, will have some new gear to rock when his name gets called by Roger Goodell. The defensive end out of South Carolina just signed a deal to become the newest face of Puma.

The German sportswear brand reached out to Clowney to try and carve out a new niche for the brand, which up until now has little ties into football, primarily focusing on soccer products. Puma does not have a deal with the NFL which means Clowney can not wear the brands logo while on the field, but they see it as a huge marketing opportunity moving forward.

"He represents everything we are and the consumer we are trying to attract," said Jay Piccola, president of Puma North America, who also presented Clowney with a custom pair of Puma snakeskin shoes valued at roughly $2500.

When asked about why he chose to sign on with Puma, Clowney told ESPN, "I just want to be a part of something different. Why not change it up?".

Clowney joins the ranks of fellow NFL players Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman and Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles who are all Puma endorsed athletes. The terms of the deal are undisclosed as of now, but chances are if Clowney fulfills his potential, the earnings could be tremendous.
