It’s easy to complain about the rising prices of sneakers. There’s been a lot of discussion about “quality,” while self-appointed experts pick through the costs of updating technology, Chinese factory overhead, and the turbulent leather markets. What’s for sure, though, is that nothing holds a candle to these:

1.

Royaums is a sneaker brand that “offers the epitome of alluring style while embodying an unrivaled quality and durability.” That’s what they say. We never heard of them either, but maybe because we’re too poor for them. As far as we can tell: they use a lot of expensive materials. These red joints are apparently entirely made of crocodile leather and will run you $4,450, plus shipping. Are you feeling a little better about those $250 Foams right now?

Unfortunately, despite an obviously expensive website with some clever CGI, there’s very little information about the brand that would inspire any consumer confidence. They don’t even say where the brand is based. So, if you’re ready to take a $4.5k gamble: let us know how it goes. There are plenty of sizes available.
