The first Jordan-brand-only store, Flight 23, opened earlier this year in New York City, the birthplace of Michael Jordan, and now a second location is opening in the city where MJ's legend was forged, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The story was confirmed by Joe Sitt, CEO of Thor Equities, the company that currently owns the Chicago space that Flight 23 (which is operated in conjunction with Footaction) is moving into.

"There is nothing more quintessentially Chicago than Michael Jordan — and Thor is thrilled to bring the iconic sports hero's unique and dynamic brand to a premier retail location in the city where he cemented his championship legacy," Sitt told the Tribune.

Although Nike and Foot Locker, Footaction's parent company, both declined the paper's requests to make a statement on a Chicago-based Flight 23 store, we reported earlier that "Opening Flight 23 was a year in the making, and is the first of several stores that the brand hopes to open in the coming years," in reference to the NYC location.

The Flight 23 apparently will be moving into a space Forever 21 is vacating, located on 34 S. State St. in Chicago. There is no move-in date for Flight 23, but Forever 21 plans to leave the space by the end of 2014.

If this news happens to be true, expect people to break out the North Faces for Flight 23's now-traditional campouts.
