It's been a record setting day across the soccer world today as earlier, Wayne Rooney became the all-time leading scorer against Arsenal in Premier League history. That wasn't the only major accomplishment of the day, as Lionel Messi put up a hat trick, making him the all-time leading scorer in La Liga's history.

In typical fashion, Messi tied the record with a ridiculous free-kick that landed in the top left corner of the net, which also gave Barcelona the lead over Sevilla.

Messi wasn't done just yet, as he later went on to break the record by scoring two more goals en route to Barcelona's 5-1 victory. Messi now has 252 goals in his La Liga career, surpassing the legendary Zarra. FC Barcelona gave us a nice throwback to his first ever goal in La Liga when he was just 17-years-old and scored against Albacete in 2005.

For his record breaking game, Messi hit the field in a pair of gold pair of his adidas adizero F50 cleats. Still just 27-years-old, Messi has plenty of legs left under him, and will continue to add to his record as he has no plans on leaving the Spanish division anytime soon.
