Okay, so is it just me or does it feel like we’re getting holidays mixed up? Every December acts like one long egg hunt, at least for sneakerheads. You know what I’m talking about, when you wake up and start rummaging through the house, grabbing at every egg you see, rushing, sprinting, hustling from room to room, looking to grab more and more, every single egg you can get your hands on. For sneakerheads, that’s how the holiday season of late November and December feels every single day.
And Black Friday is the pinnacle.
From classic Jordans to 1990s Nike Basketball kicks to new Timberlands that are ready to shut the game down, this is the best time of the year for anyone looking to cop some new shoes. At the top of that list are three essential silhouettes making comebacks in new colorways.
This new “Bamboo” pack might be an extensive of last year’s “Safari” pack from The Game Plan. However, it’s also very, very different. All three shoes feature extensive histories that date back to the late '80s and early '90s, with the Air Max debuting in 1987 and the Huarache following just a few years later. The Air Max was the first sneaker to really let us look inside at the interior workings, effectively creating a shoe with a hole in it. The Huarache, while perhaps not as jaw dropping, earned prestige for being one of the first shoes to strip down to the essentials, something that’s all the rage nowadays.
Yet all three shoes have on thing in common: Tinker Hatfield. The genius behind many of Nike’s and Jordan’s greatest creations helped design both the Air Max and Huarache line, and since then they’ve influenced just about everything that’s come out in the last 25 years.
This week, make sure you’re staying dressed to impress with Nike Sportswear’s “Bamboo Pack” in The Game Plan from Champs Sports. It’s all about updating classic sneakers with a new look to keep it fresh. Add in branded T-shirts sporting corresponding bamboo-detailed designs and you can see why this figures to be a special release. It doesn’t get much better than this.
