Solebox's adidas EQT Drop Shows That Sneaker Releases Don't Need to Be a Crazy Mess

Sneaker releases, at least in the U.S., have a bad reputation. We're always discussing violence that goes down at these events, and it's all because someone wants the sneakers more than the next person. These horrible occurrences have forced retailers to cancel their releases all together — most recently with Supreme's Air Force 1 collaboration at the shop's flagship New York City location.

Other boutiques are showing, however, that releases can bring out people in droves and still be held in an orderly and fun fashion. A shining example of this is Solebox's adidas EQT Guidance 93 release that dropped at the store's Berlin, Germany location this past Saturday.

At the shop, legions of European sneakerheads lined up outside of the brick-and-mortar storefront as they waited to get their pair. While in queue for up to eight hours, they were served tea and hors d'oeuvres by shop owner Hikmet Sugeour, which helped. It's cold in Berlin this time of the year.

Those in line also took time to flash their footwear game and get street-styled, too. Being that it was Germany and an adidas release to boot, there were plenty sneakers of the Three-Striped variety in attendance.

Even with the high demand for this collaboration, which was inspired by the Berlin flag and will drop internationally on December 6, nothing crazy or out of order happened. People waited, got their sneakers, tried them on, and paid. That's the way a sneaker release should be. If only more people in the U.S. could follow suit.
