Over at Complex we’ve been getting ready for Air Max Day for a little while now. If it’s not on your calendar yet, it’s coming up on March 26. It will mark the 28th anniversary of the introduction of Nike’s iconic Air Max 1 and the birth of the Air Max program.
The Air bubble that found itself in Tinker Hatfield’s design almost three decades ago went on to change the way we use athletic sneakers, and should be considered a holiday on the calendar of any serious sneakerhead.
Gearing up for the celebration, Nike released a microsite today called "Masters of Max: The Air Max Icons" detailing the icons of the Air Max program along with original photographs of the initial releases of each style. The images bleed history, and are definitely worth a look.
