The O.G.-styled Converse Chuck Taylor All Star '70 is preparing for the ride of its life with a new "Space Collection" inspired by the monumental decade in which the sneaker was originally released.
Pulling its story from the space exploration breakthroughs of the 1970s, this limited-edition Converse First String pack includes two colorways of the Chuck Taylor All Star '70.
The first is a black-and-white based makeup that salutes the brave astronauts who have traveled to the moon. It's been treated with reflective 3M throughout to represent the luster of a spacecraft, while rocket-inspired graphics adorn the upper. The outsole is finished off in a translucent marbled grey, which serves as a nod to the surface of the moon.
Meanwhile, the second colorway looks to a less obvious inspiration, getting its colors from the splash down balloons used by astronauts as they descended safely back into the earth's atmosphere from space. This colorway makes use of a two-tone beige and a welded dot print, and the heel includes the location coordinates of a "historical moment that took place in the Pacific Ocean."
Look out for the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star '70 "Space Collection" to reach Planet Earth on Friday, October 23 for $120 at select Converse First String retailers.
