People waited 30 years to get an auto-lacing pair of sneakers, first imagined on the Nike Mag in Back to the Future II, and there was a first glimpse of the actual thing last week. Nike didn't stop there with the technology first debuted by Michael J. Fox, who wore the sneakers in the 1980s film. In an article by Bloomberg, Nike CEO Mark Parker has confirmed that his company is working on integrating this discovery into the NBA.

According to Bloomberg, "Nike is planning to use sensors and computing power to control body temperature and get the perfect fit, said a person in attendance, who asked not to be identified because it was a private talk," in reference to sneakers made for the league's players.

Nike will start its partnership as the official uniform provider of the NBA starting with the 2017-2018 season. The auto-lacing Nike Mags are expected to be auctioned off early next year, giving the brand ample time to reconfigure the system for a mass distribution.
