Adidas big wig takes aim at Man Utd's recent poor performance.

Times are bleak at Old Trafford with Manchester United's poor play, so much so that one of the club's main sponsors has taken notice of their performance.

In a report from U.K.'s Express, adidas CEO Herbert Hainer was recently asked a question regarding business with the famed soccer club by German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung, to which Hainer responded, "Business with Man United is going very well, we sell more shirts than expected. We are satisfied, even if the current playing style of Man United is not exactly what we want to see."

While the jab was probably in jest, it's justified considering Manchester United has struggled mightily this season and only recently ended an eight game winless streak. Because of its disappointing performance, including losses to clubs such as Bournemouth, Norwich City, and Stoke City, many folks have called for the resignation of its manager, Louis van Gaal.

Since adidas returned as its main sponsor in 2014, the two have managed to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Last August, when adidas unveiled its Man U's soccer kits for women, the brand took some criticism for its plunging v-neck design. In October, adidas released a Stretford model commemorating the club, but with one big problem, the sneaker featured blue stripes which didn't sit well with Red Devil fans who take great pride in wearing the team's red color.
