Derek Jeter is done in the MLB, but he's still the Captain. Today, Jordan Brand announced that it has signed a new deal with the legendary shortstop, giving him the role of captain of its training and baseball categories. Jordan will continue to release Jeter's RE2PECT product, with more set to hit stores in spring, 2017.

Michael Jordan provided context on Jeter's role within the brand and his dedication.

"Derek is one of the hardest workers I have ever met," Jordan said. "His work ethic was evident in the way he played the game of baseball and it continues to drive the way he approaches his business career after retirement. We are excited to continue our relationship with him and for what he brings to the brand as we continue to grow."

According to Nike, one of Jeter's responsibilities as captain will be to help recruit athletes to the Jordan Brand's stable of baseball players.

Jeter spoke on his future with Jordan Brand in a piece announcing his re-signing at Nike News.

"I am thrilled to continue my relationship with the Jordan Brand," said Jeter. "I spent my entire baseball career trying to be the best player I could be and I am excited to help the next generation reach that goal through Jordan Training and Baseball."
