The Drake General Store is teaming up with footwear manufacturer Bata to release a sneaker in celebration of Canada's sesquicentennial. A limited edition version of the iconic Bata Bullets sneaker will launch later this month, marking the heritage brand’s return to Canada.

The release, part of the DGS's +collaboration initiative, comes about 50 years after the original Bullets sneakers were created in Bata’s Maryland factory. The re-release maintains the Bullets’ classic silhouette and brand image while matching today’s industry standards. The clean, crisp, white unisex sneaker also features a unique take on the Drake General Store’s well-known cross symbol.

“Drake General Store just felt like a perfect fit as a partner to relaunch in Canada because they understood and valued the authenticity of the brand and its products, as well as its Canadian heritage,” Charles Pignal, Bata heritage manager and great-grandson of company founder Tomas Bata told Complex Canada. “It was very important to us to be able to work with a team who could help us tell the story in a cool way and connect to a new generation of Canadian customers.”

The limited edition Drake General Store and Bata +collaboration Bullets sneaker will retail for $85 and will launch during the Bata Heritage takeover at the flagship Drake General Store in Toronto (1151 Queen Street West) from April 19 to May 14. The sneakers will also be available internationally at www.drakegeneralstore.ca.
