This 1948 Tucker Torpedo Auctioned for $2.91 Million

Tucker time!

If we had a ton of money to play with, we would no doubt become regulars at high-end auto auctions, but we're not sure if we could ever go THIS high for a single car. This 1948 Tucker Torpedo blew past its reserve at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction and soared to a final price of $2.91 million. The four-speed manual Torpedos, from the mind of Preston Tucker, were made in Chicago in '48, but only 51 were ever built before the operation was shut down. The rear engine, a moving "Cyclops Eye" third headlight, and its aerodynamic structure make this one of the most distinct and unique vehicles in the world.
