Do you remember where Kobe Bryant was at in his career back in 2007? The Lakers were seemingly nowhere close to winning a championship and KB24 was not happy about it. So, he asked Lakers brass for a trade. And, they almost granted his wish.

During an appearance on ESPN Dallas 103.3FM yesterday, Mark Cubanripped Jason Kidd a new one. But, during the same interview, he also talked about how the Mavs had almost pulled off a deal back in 2007 that would have netted them Kobe Bean. And, best of all, they wouldn't have had to give up Dirk Nowitzki to make it happen.

"It wasn't Dirk for Kobe," Cuban said. "Literally, between Dancing with the Stars practices I had thought we traded for Kobe Bryant. I even talked to their owner and thought we were going to have a done deal, and [Lakers GM]Mitch Kupchak changed [Kobe's] mind and brought him back."

That certainly would have been interesting to see. But, we're glad it didn't get done. After all, Kobe in a Mavs jersey? Meh. It just wouldn't have been right.
