After all the questionable pass interference calls here and extra timeouts awarded there, the replacement referees have finally done the unthinkable: they cost a team the win. With only eight seconds left in last night's Seahawks/Packers game, Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson threw up a prayer pass with his team down by five that landed in the hands of Green Bay's M.D. Jennings... or did the Hawks' Golden Tate secure it?
After a little bit of wrestling over possession of the ball, two referees came over to make a final call. One ref ruled it a touchdown while the other didn't know what was going on (ironic, huh?). Eventually, the play was called a touchdown and the Seahawks came away with the 14-12 victory.
If the regular referees need any proof why they should be paid handsomely for their work, here's Exhibit A.
