Chrysler SRT Chief Ralph Gilles (the guy behind that dead sexy new Viper) called Donald Trump out on Twitter the other day. Trump tweeted "Obama is a terrible negotiator. He bails out Chrysler and now Chrysler wants to send all Jeep manufacturing to China--and will!" to which Gilles replied "You are full of shit." We love people who call it as they see it.

As it turns out, Trump is full of shit. Chrysler is considering building a Jeep plant in China, but that would be for the purposes of building and selling Jeeps in China, to the Chinese. This plant would be to provide for a market that does not currently have much access to Jeep vehicles, rather than off-shoring American jobs. To the contrary, Chrysler is also planning to expand American Jeep production.

This follows hot on the heels of GM and Chrysler calling Romney's political attack ads "inaccurate" over the claim that both companies' growth in China is at the expense of American jobs. A GM Spokesperson told Bloomberg "This ad was so misleading, that we had no choice but to offer a vigorous defense of our progress since emerging from bankruptcy. We are grateful to both parties for the second chance, and we’re making the most of it. GM’s creation of jobs in the U.S. and repatriating profits back to this country should be a source of bipartisan pride. GM has gone out of its way to be neutral."
