Remember when Manti Te'o went on Katie Couric's talk show a few weeks ago and told her that he's not gay? Well, it sounds like there are more than a few NFL teams that didn't believe him. According to NFL insider Mike Florio, there are a bunch of teams that are trying to do their homework to find out if Te'o is gay.

"Here's the elephant in the room for the teams," he said on the Dan Patrick Showtoday, "and it shouldn't matter, but we have to step aside from the rest of reality and walk into the unique industry that is the NFL. Teams want to know whether Manti Te'o is gay. They just want to know. They want to know because in an NFL locker room, it's a different world. It shouldn't be that way."

Florio doubts anyone will come right out and ask Te'o because of what happened to Dez Bryant a couple years ago. But, he has heard that NFL teams are doing a thorough background check on Te'o that includes a closer look at his sexuality.

"They want to know what they're getting," he said. "They want to know what issues they may be dealing with down the road…You have a situation where you have a guy who was in a relationship with a fake girl who ended up being a real man, and the man has said to Dr. Phil that he was romantically in love with Manti Te'o. It just raises a lot of questions that the NFL at some point is going to have to deal with."

Indeed. But, is this really the best way to start doing it?!
