We already knew that Renault is going to be building a new sportscar with Caterham that is set to revive the iconic Alpine nameplate, but we knew very little beyond that until now.

The first tid bit is that the Renault Alpine and its cousin that is to bear a Caterham badge will not be like the Scion/Subaru twins, and will be very different cars, even if they do share some DNA.

Renault's car will feature a turbocharged I4 that should send at least 250 horses to the rear wheels. It will come with a manual transmission, minimal luxuries, and a limited slip differential. All this for under $50,000 sounds nice to us. If we ever start a magazine called Complexe in France we might have to pick one of these up.
