Towards the end of last season, Richard Sherman nearly received a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy against performance-enhancing drugs. Ever since that moment, Sherman won his appeal and the questions surrounding Adderall use among NFL players was placed at the forefront. While the Seahawks cornerback maintains that his interaction with the substance containing amphetamine was the result of drinking from a water bottle which had a crushed up Adderall pill, Sherman has shed a new light on the drug's prevalence throughout the league in a recent interview with the Vancouver Sun.
“About half the league takes it and the league has to allow it," Sherman said of Adderall use in the NFL. "The league made a mistake in my case. Obviously, I didn’t do anything, but you have to go through a process to prove you didn’t do anything. There are still naysayers out there who don’t believe me. But I accept it. If everybody loves you, it probably means you’re not much of a player."
As Shutdown Corner points out, the Giants' Andre Brown, Will Hill and Tyler Sash, Patriots' Aqib Talib and Jermaine Cunningham, Buccaneers' Eric Wright, Packers' Mike Neal, Browns' Joe Haden and Sherman's teammate Brandon Browner have all been linked to using Adderall. And while this is a small sample size when you compare these names to the rest of the league, it does show that the banned substance is definitely getting around. But half the league? Seems a bit radical. Could it possibly be that many players?
