Serena Williams had it rough this week. She made one of the most controversialcomments in recent women's tennis history, to which Maria Sharapova responded with one of the biggest backhands in recent women's tennis history. And we're not talking about tennis shots here either.

Although her comments about the Steubenville case caused the most stir, Serena also raised a few eyebrows with her shots at Sharapova. Specifically, she said, “There are people who live, breathe and dress tennis. I mean, seriously, give it a rest. She begins every interview with ‘I’m so happy. I’m so lucky’—it’s so boring. She’s still not going to be invited to the cool parties. And, hey, if she wants to be with the guy with a black heart, go for it.” Williams was referring to Sharapova Grigor Dimitrov, who's believed to be one of her rumored exes.

Sharapova's comments are surprising because Williams said in a press conference today that she apologized to Sharapova on Thursday at the WTA Wimbledon party. She also stated she immediately reached out to the family of the Steubenville rape victim after the infamous article was published.

Calling Williams out the way Sharapova did on Saturday isn't how you bury the hatchet, though. Serena was already aware of the Russian star's shots:

None

Probably the best thing Williams has said all week. Time to focus on some tennis!
