Jay-Z Helps Robinson Cano Get an Endorsement Deal With Pepsi

Signing with Roc Nation Sports is already paying off.

None

When Robinson Cano left his agent Scott Boras to sign with Jay-Z's new sports agency Roc Nation Sports in the spring, a lot of people thought he was crazy. Cano is looking to sign a big contract with the New York Yankees sometime in the near future and, frankly, Boras is the best in the biz. So folks wondered why in the world Cano would leave a sure thing to sign with Jay-Z—a guy who has absolutely no experience when it comes to getting sports superstars contracts.

But as it turns out, Jay-Z does know how to handle business in other areas (as if you didn't know that already!) and it's already translating well in regards to Cano. According to the New York Post, the Yankees second baseman just signed a multimillion-dollar endorsement deal with Pepsi. He will be the new face of Pepsi for Major League Baseball and will star in a commercial campaign that will begin airing during the 2013 MLB All-Star Game tomorrow night.

So do you still think Jay-Z isn't the right man for the job when it comes to managing Cano's career? GTFOH! As Andrew Rice pointed out in a new New York piece on Jay-Z's business model over here, Jay-Z is still a business, man. And he clearly knows what he's doing with Roc Nation Sports. Now we just can't wait to see what else he does for the rest of his clients (specifically Kevin Durant!) in the future.
