In an explosive investigative report, Yahoo! Sports has discovered that five SEC college football players did, in fact, receive impermissible benefits during their collegiate career. Offensive tackle D.J. Fluker (University of Alabama), quarterback Tyler Bray (University of Tennessee), defensive end Maurice Couch (University of Tennessee), defensive tackle Fletcher Cox (Mississippi State University) and wide receiver Chad Bumphis (Mississippi State University) received extra benefits from a handful of NFL agents and financial advisers through former defensive end of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Luther Davis.
According to Yahoo! Sports, three NFL agents (Andy Simms, Peter Schaffer and John Phillips) and three financial advisers (Jason Jernigan, Mike Rowan and Hodge Brahmbhatt) were in contact and worked through Davis, who worked as a middle-man and had access to high-profile SEC players. With transactions totaling upwards of $45,550, the NCAA will investigate whether these findings are true. If they are proven to true, the aforementioned players would've violated Bylaw 12.3.1.2, which "prohibits athletes from receiving benefits from agents or marketing representatives."
