Last Saturday afternoon, walk-on cornerback Jesse Bongiovi played the first game of his college football career when he suited up for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as they took on Temple. No big deal, right? After all, hundreds of kids started their college football careers on Saturday. But how many of them have a father who is a rock star like Bongiovi? We're guessing none.

Bongiovi—who played high school football at Brooklyn's Poly Prep—is the son of none other than Jon Bon Jovi. And his famous father was on hand to take in the game against Temple and watch his son play in South Bend for the first time on Saturday. The New York Daily News also just ran a feature on Bongiovi and asked him what it's like to try and make a name for himself as the son of a music superstar.

"I expect it to be one of the hardest things I'll probably ever do," he said, "but I like a challenge. I like being able to overcome things and step up to occasions. Hopefully, I'll get to persevere through something that's pretty hard."

Time and time again, we've seen the children of superstars succumb to the pressures that come along with living in the shadows of their famous parents. So it's nice to see Bongiovi rising to the challenge and doing everything he can to make it in the world of college football. Here's to hoping that the game against Temple on Saturday was the first of many for him.
