When the Cleveland Browns selected Trent Richardson with the third overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the running back out of Alabama looked like the cornerstone of the organization for years to come. Well, all that came to an end just a couple minutes ago when ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed that the Browns have traded Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first-round pick.

While we don't know the reasoning behind the Browns' front office decision to send Richardson packing just yet, we would gather that the Colts wanted to bolster their backfield after Vick Ballard went down with a season-ending injury. In addition to that, Indianapolis must've been wary of the idea of relying on Ahmad Bradshaw's ailing ankles. Whatever the case, the Colts look like a prime contender out of the AFC for years to come with offensive threats like Richardson, Andrew Luck at quarterback and Reggie Wayne playing wideout.

For you fantasy football players out there, the Browns' site shows two-year pro Bobby Rainey as their No. 2 back on the depth chart. He may be worth a look right now.
