This 1988 Ford Fiesta Finds New Life as a Transformer Sculpture

Cue theme song.

We all wish we could have our very own Bumblebee from Transformers living in our garage, but we can't. The closest alternative for a while has been to buy a yellow Dodge Charger and play pretend. If you'd prefer something that looks like a Transformer but can't take you anywhere, you should follow the lead of UK designer Hetain Patel who, along with his engineer brother and hearse-building father, took a 1988 Ford Fiesta, tore it down, and rebuilt it as a squatting humanoid sculpture. The car was the same make and model as Patel's first car which had been given to him second-hand from his father when he was 17.

For Patel, the Fiesta is a "symbol of working class Britain, a native body." In the video description on Vimeo he explains that for him the robots are "a metaphor for the other, in a fantasy world where they can transform out of a marginal position into one of empowerment." Watch as he and his family completely tranform the ride into a non-fighting, silent work of art:
