The North American International Auto Show is underway in Detroit so that means lots of exciting reveals (and more than a few duds) will be cramming your social media feed for a while. It's only right that one of the first great reveals you see today is this Toyota FT-1Concept Car.

We sometimes hate to hear the word "concept" because it usually means that everything including the kitchen sink has been thrown in, and once the car hits production, most of the cool features and design elements that we love will be long gone. With the Toyota FT-1 Concept Car, we don't really care about the final product right now because it is so damn cool. Plus, Toyota hinted that this is a car that is previewing the future.

Think of every sci-fi show or movie you've seen and consider the tech. Now think of what the practical version of that would look like in a car (minus the tractor beams and lasers) and that's pretty close to what Toyota and CALTY Design Research were able to create. Using the spirit of the Supra that has been sorely missed for years, the design teams set out to create an exciting sportscar for the future, and excited we are.

Check out the official images below and keep scrolling for a video tour and a longer feature from Motor Trend Channel that has the designers talking about the car and the design process.
