Very early Sunday morning, Michael L. McThune—the 20-year-old man that you see in the photo above—got released from the Rock County Jail in Beloit, Wis. But by breakfast time, he was already right back behind bars. So what happened between approximately 4 and 6 a.m. on Sunday that sent him back to jail?

Well, at about 5:40 a.m. on Sunday, a woman in Janesville, Wis. discovered that someone had stolen her car from her garage after she had gone out and started it in order to warm it up. Less than 10 minutes later, police in neighboring Beloit saw the car speeding down the street and attempted to stop it. But the driver of the vehicle refused to pull over and led police on a chase that reached speeds of more than 100 mph. It didn't last long, though, as a short time after the chase began, the driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to make a turn and crashed into a traffic control signal. He then attempted to flee on foot but was caught a few blocks away.

When the police finally caught up with the man, they arrested him and identified him as McThune. And as they quickly realized, he was the same man who had just been released by the police in Beloit a couple hours earlier. So now, he's back behind bars and facing burglary, operating a motor vehicle with owner's consent, fleeing to avoid arrest, obstructing/resisting officer's, and operating after suspension charges. What a bad way to start a morning.
