The Indiana Pacers have reportedly agreed to trade Danny Granger to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen. And that tells us two things: One, the Pacers are serious about doing whatever it takes to beat the Miami Heat in the 2014 Eastern Conference Finals. They added Andrew Bynum to their lineup recently to give them an additional inside presence. And now, they've added a guy who is averaging 17.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists this season. And two, it tells us that the 76ers are serious about tanking the rest of their season and getting one of the top picks in the 2014 NBA Draft (in addition to trading Turner and Allen today, they've also parted ways with Spencer Hawes and brought in a bunch of expiring contracts and second-round picks in other deals).
Both Turner and Granger will be free agents this summer. So they probably won't be with either the Pacers or the 76ers for very long. But this was the kind of trade we've been waiting to see all day. So thank you, Pacers and Sixers! We can finally stop watching the Steve Blake video we were watching earlier and start talking about basketball again.
