Bespoke coachbuilding is an art form that hasn’t been quite popular in the past quarter century. But thanks to cars like this and the Touring Disco Volante, we might be witnessing a renaissance.

It’s called the Speedback, and it’s David Brown Automotive’s first entry into the automotive world. Don’t be fooled by those classic and elegant lines, it’s very much a modern car – based on the outgoing Jaguar XK platform, from which it received Jag’s 5.0L supercharged V8. But aside from those new-school underpinnings, it’s still an old-boy at heart. The body was handcrafted in the UK, and all of its materials were derived from British suppliers, giving it that iconic British feel inside and out.

David Brown Automotive will debut the Speedback for the public at Top Marques Monaco in April. Until then, take a look at the video below for a sneak peak.
