Because General Motors is in the middle of a legal and PR nightmare from its poor handling of an ignition switch flaw, we expect the company to be especially cautious with any new problem. That may be the reason why GM halted most Chevy Cruz sales across the United States, but we're not really sure. No one is.
GM hasn't hasn't said why the company told dealerships to halt sales of its best selling car in America, and no recall has been issued. All we can do is speculate for now. The most logical explanation would be some sort of flaw in the cars. But, according to GM spokesman Alan Adler, it could be for something that major or something as minor as a sticker problem.
If the sales halt is in response to a defect, GM would be showing a new commitment to acting quickly. And that's exactly what the company needs going forward.
