At the rate General Motors is going it seems like every one of their vehicles will be pulled off the road. The company announced three separate recalls last night involving nearly 1.5 million vehicles. The first involves more of the infamous ignition switches. Another 824,000 vehicles have been recalled, marking the third wave and bringing the total to 2.6 million.
GM will also bring in 490,200 pickups and SUVs for transmission flaws, as well as 172,00Chevy Cruzes for half shafts, The latter recall solves the mystery of why GM told dealerships across the country to halt sales of its most popular vehicle in the United States. The former affects 2014 and 2015 models of the Chevy Silverado 1500, Tahoe, and Suburban; and the GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon 2014.
While this all seems like a disaster—and it kind of is—it's better for GM to make these moves instead of sitting on its hands. The manufacturer doesn't need another federal investigation on its plate.
