NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick already had the first 2014 Chevrolet Corvette coupe and convertible, but that wasn't enough. Today he coughed up a million dollars to get VIN #1 of the 2015 Corvette Z06 at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Collector Car Auction.

While that may seem crazy for a car that will probably retail for around $90,000, Hendrick ain't worried about nothin'. The man has a net worth of more than a billion dollars, and Hendrick Motorsports boasts Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and and Kasey Kahne.

The Z06 has "at least 625 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque," which makes it the most powerful convertible Chevy has ever made. It's also the first convertible Z06 since 1963. Hendrick has a lot of reasons to comment, "FIRST!"
