Here's an outcome to the General Motors ignition recallfiasco we didn't expect. Testifying before Congress, GM CEO Mary Barra said the company might nix the key ignition for good and make push-button start standard in all of its vehicles.
The move wouldn't only help with ignition problems; it would also satisfy consumers. A survey by AutoPacific found that consumers ranked push-button ignitions as the fifth most coveted upgrade for less than $100. Push-buttons are also already an option for 74 percent of new vehicles.
Even though this was probably inevitable, we now have a silver lining in the midst of GM's chaos.
