There's good news and there's bad news right now if you're a big Tiger Woods fan.

The good news? Woods underwent a successful microdiscectomy yesterday to treat a pinched nerve that's been causing him a lot of back pain in recent months. So Woods will finally be able to get 100 percent healthy in the coming weeks and resume playing golf at a high level. The procedure was reportedly successful and should help fix the back problems he's been having.

The bad news? Woods is going to need lots of rest and rehab in the coming weeks in order to make sure that his back heals properly. So unfortunately, he's not going to be able to participate in the Masters next week. He'll also be sidelined for several weeks after the Masters as he continues to try and get better.

"After attempting to get ready for the Masters and failing to make the necessary progress, I decided, in consultation with my doctors, to have this procedure done," he said in a statement released on his website. "I'd like to express my disappointment to the Augusta National membership staff, volunteers, and patrons that I will not be at the Masters."

It sucks for all of the golf fans out there. But hopefully, once Woods come back, he'll be better than ever. Or at the very least, better than he's been over the course of the last few months.
