Roy Hibbert's Own Teammates Are Getting Tired of Him Coming Up Short in the Playoffs

Roy Hibbert's Pacers teammates approached him last night and told him that they need more out of him right now.

Is Roy Hibbert having the most disappointing playoff run ever or what?

During the NBA regular season, Hibbert averaged almost 11 points and 7 rebounds per game and made a big enough impact on the court to be named to the 2014 All-Star Game. But during the 2014 NBA Playoffs, Hibbert has averaged just 4.6 points and 3.3 rebounds. And last night, he had his worst performance of the playoffs yet, putting up zero points and zero rebounds during the Pacers' 102-96 loss to the Wizards in Game 1 of their best-of-7 playoff series.

Hibbert was so bad during last night's game that Gilbert Arenas ethered him on Instagram all night long with posts like this:

Tracy McGrady took a shot at him on Twitter as well:

Me and Roy Hibbert had the same amount of points and rebounds tonight.

And more than a few NBA fans expressed their disgust with Hibbert's play, too:

0_0 That's my expression watching Chris Paul play tonight, and also Roy Hibbert's statline.

Roy Hibbert also didn't have a point or rebound in the Clips/Thunder game... I know...piling on...couldn't help it. #NBAPlayoffs

But that's not all. In addition to former players and fans getting on Hibbert, it sounds like his own teammates let him know that his recent play has been unacceptable after the game. According to multiple reports, Pacers players David West and Paul George pulled Hibbert aside after the game and spoke with him about how he needs to step up his play moving forward. And while those players didn't reveal exactly what they said to Hibbert when they spoke with reporters later, they did let it be known that they're going to need Hibbert to step up in order to beat the Wizards.

"We're at the point where we really need Roy and we need him now," George said. "[It] comes down to us having heart and rebounding the ball. We need our big fella to rebound the ball for us."

Yes, they do. And a few points—hell, any points!—wouldn't hurt, either. But it appears as though Hibbert is having trouble getting over some kind of psychological issue. For whatever reason, he just can't get into any kind of rhythm out on the court right now. So it'll be interesting to see if he's able to score and rebound at all in Game 2. If not, we really fear for what Twitter—and his teammates—are going to say and do to him.
