The NBA coaching ranks are no longer Van Gundy-less, as the Detroit Pistons reached an agreement to make Stan Van Gundy not only their next Head Coach, but the President of Basketball Operations as well. The deal is for a reported five years and will set the Pistons back $35 million.

Van Gundy last coached in 2012 for the Orlando Magic. That season they were 37-29 but got bounced in the First Round of the Playoffs after five games. Van Gundy's exit came after the season amidst apparent internal strife between him and the Magic's biggest star Dwight Howard. Over eight seasons with both the aforementioned Magic as well as the Miami Heat, Van Gundy is 371-208 with seven playoff appearances and one Conference Championship.

Pistons fans currently in the middle of a five-year postseason drought are hoping he can make that an even dozen playoff appearances by the time this contract expires.
