This is one of the strangest rides we've seen all year. And while it's relatively cheap, light (just 20 pounds), and powered by a battery, it also seems like a pain in the ass to learn how to use. TOPJOY, a Chinese company, has released a $295 electric unicycle called the Pinwheel

It works sort of like a Segway but requires a better sense of balance. You lean forward to go ahead and lean back to go in reverse. The Pinwheel can reach 14 mph, but engadget warns you better be an expert before going that fast.

We can't see this becoming the next big thing, or even the next ubiquitous-but-mocked-at-the-same-time thing like the Segway. But it is a neat idea.
