Thanks to a slew of recalls and some nasty reprimands, General Motors hasn’t exactly had an easy start to 2014. So what did The General do to counteract the hate? It dropped a 650-horsepower bombshell.
That’s right, the 6.2L supercharged V8 in the 2015 Corvette Z06 chucks out a massive 650-horsepower and 650 lb-ft or torque, making it the most powerful Chevrolet ever produced.
The emphasis is on torque. Chevy’s LT4 6.2L puts down a staggering 427 lb-ft of torque just off idle and 625 lb-ft at only 2,800 rpm. Performance comes courtesy of higher-strength aluminum heads, titanium intake valves, forged connecting rods, a burly 1.7L supercharger, forged aluminum pistons, and a dry-sump oil system.
Chevy hasn’t released any zero to 60mph figures as of yet, but expect them to be mind-melting.
