According to MLB Network Insider and MLB on FOX reporter Ken Rosenthal, the Tampa Bay Rays have traded starting pitcher David Price to the Detroit Tigers. At 53-55, the Rays are eight games back of the AL East first place Orioles, and five and a half games back of a Wild Card spot. This will come as shock to few, though, as David Price’s name has been mentioned for weeks leading up to today’s 4 p.m. trade deadline. The AL Central leading Tigers have certainly bolstered their playoff resume with the addition of the 2012 Cy Young winner. The deal was reportedly a three-team trade sending Price to Detroit, outfielder Austin Jackson to Seattle, and Tampa Bay ending up with left-handed pitcher Drew Smiley and infielder Nick Franklin.
