Yesterday, Argentina's Javier Mascherano defended heroically for 120 minutes, often putting his physical well-being on the back burner in order to preserve a 0-0 deadlock with the Netherlands. And by the end of Argentina's epic win on penalties, he gave new meaning to the cliche of an athlete putting their body on the line. Mascherano revealed after the match that he tore his anus while making a last-ditch tackle on Arjen Robben in the 91st minute to keep the game scoreless. "I do not want to be rude. "I tore the anus that play, so the pain..." he said, according to SB Nation. We're not sure what the recovery time is for a torn anus, but for Argentina's sake, we hope he's able to give it a go in the final against Germany on Sunday. In the meantime, check out the tackle in all it's glory below.
