Mercedes Is Going to Test Wireless Charging For the Hybrid S-Class

Because taking 15 seconds to plug something in can't be made to be luxurious.

The Mercedes S500 plug-in hybrid won't be, because there will be no need to plug it in. That's right, the often mentioned but never produced wireless charging station is almost here. Mercedes is planning to test a system on its fleet of hybrid limos in the hopes that it will become an attractive feature for consumers.

It's about time.

The S500 Hybrid is no Prius either. It's powered by a 328 hp V6 and a 107 hp electric motor, which in combination can get this hulking behemoth up to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. It's no supercar, but it is genuinely quick. We're impressed.
