Baseball's "unwritten rules" seem to be—from an outsider's perspective, at least—wildly inconsistent and stupid. And when you consider that breaking a "rule" (stealing a base with a big lead, admiring a home run, etc.) may result in a hitter receiving a 95 mph fastball in the ear hole, it's important to clear up this oftentimes murky code of honor.
