Harrison Barnes Spent Part of His NBA Offseason Working for Facebook

What do you think Harrison Barnes learned while he was working at Facebook this summer?

Earlier this summer, Harrison Barnes almost got traded from the Warriors to the Timberwolves—along with teammates Klay Thompson and David Lee—in exchange for Kevin Love. So you would probably think that Barnes spent his entire offseason pressing the "Refresh" button on his Internet browser and his Twitter feed waiting for word about his future in the NBA. But he didn't.

The 22-year-old did spend most of his time this summer on the computer, though…but it wasn't because he was worried about getting traded. Rather, it was because he logged quite a few hours working an externship at Facebook in Menlo Park, Calif. where he worked with the social media giant's engineering team and gave his feedback on different aspects of Facebook. As a celebrity who uses social media regularly, he was able to give Facebook valuable feedback on some of their products and, in return, Facebook taught him how to use social media more effectively to connect with his fans. So it was a win/win for both sides.

Mashable spoke with Barnes at length about his experience over here. It's pretty interesting to hear about him stepping outside of his comfort zone and doing something other than watching or playing basketball.
