It's been a little bit more than a year now since Riley Cooper got caught using the N-word at a country music concert in Philadelphia. And if you remember, Cooper's teammate Michael Vick played a big role in helping Cooper get through that incident. He came to Cooper's defense almost immediately, forgave him for what he had done, and helped some of his other Eagles teammates come to terms with what Cooper had said.

So with the Eagles set to play Vick's new team the Jets in the preseason tonight, Vick was asked about what he did last summer earlier this week and called it the "best thing I've done as a professional athlete." He also said that he hopes Cooper understands just how far Vick stuck his neck out for him.

"I just hope he's [appreciative] of my boldness to step out in front of the world and say what I said," he told ESPN New York, "and he appreciates what I did and understands the magnitude of it, because nobody else was going to step up and say anything."

But while talking about the incident, Vick also admitted that there was one thing that happened between him and Cooper during this past offseason that rubbed him the wrong way. After Cooper signed a new five-year deal with the Eagles in February, Vick sent him a text to congratulate him. And Vick's still waiting for a response.

"After he signed his contract, I sent him a text and I never got a text back," Vick said, "and that made me feel a certain type of way."

Vick went on to say that he's "not the type of guy who holds grudges," but in this particular case, we definitely wouldn't blame him for holding one here.

Vick got slammed by some people last summer for going out on a limb for Cooper and, in a way, saved Cooper's career. So unless he's got a really good excuse for not hitting Vick back in February, Cooper should have done it. In fact, he should text Vick every single morning to say "thank you." Because without him, there's a good chance that Cooper is out of the NFL right now. So sending one text to Vick is the least he could do for him.
