Major League Soccer is on the upswing right now, with the quality of play in the league rising along with the sport's popularity in the United States. The momentum is working in the league's favor right now, with high-caliber players making the move from Europe to the States to seek glory in a new continent. One of those players is Spanish icon David Villa, formerly of F.C. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and soon-to-be member of New York City FC, the expansion team beginning play next season.

At an event celebrating the rebranding of the MLS and the unveiling of the new league logo, we caught up with "El Guaje" Villa to ask him about the upcoming move to New York City. He expressed excitement for this new challenge after a successful career in Europe, as well as anticipation for playing with Frank Lampard, NYC FC's other high-profile signing of the summer.
